LOS ANGELES – “Deadpool & Wolverine” has retained its box office crown for another week, grossing $15.1 million over the first three days of the four-day Labor Day weekend, according to industry estimates released Sunday.
By the end of the holiday weekend, the Marvel juggernaut will have surpassed $600 million domestically in its six weeks of release.
“Alien: Romulus” held onto second place with $9.3 million Friday through Sunday in its third weekend in North American theaters, Comscore reported.

“It Ends with Us,” a domestic violence drama starring Blake Lively — who is married to “Deadpool & Wolverine” star Ryan Reynolds — made another $7.42 million in its fourth weekend for third place.
“Reagan,” a biopic of the nation’s 40th president starring Dennis Quaid, opened with $7.4 million for fourth place, followed by “Twisters,” which took in $7.1 million in its seventh week.
Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases were “Blink Twice” ($4.68 million), “The Forge” ($4.6 million), “Despicable Me 4” ($4 million), “Afraid” ($3.7 million) and “Inside Out 2” ($2.7 million).
ADVERTISEMENTThe Labor Day weekend was among the slowest of the year, with the summer season ending with domestic revenues down 14.3 percent from 2023 and 26.6 percent from 2019, according to Comscore.
“Deadpool & Wolverine,” starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, clinches the No. 1 spot for five out of the past six weekends. It ranks as the second highest-grossing movie of the year with $603.8 million in North America and $1.25 billion globally.
It has become the second R-rated film to top $1 billion at the global box office – and it’s on its way to becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
